Our customers include employers, health plans, individual consumers, and healthcare organizations (especially patient-centered medical homes and accountable care organizations). Other key Healthagen companies include Medicity (health information exchanges) and HDMS (claims and clinical data warehousing and query tools). In addition we work with pharmaceutical manufacturers and medical device makers to help them understand population-level patterns of consumer, patient and physician behaviors relative to their general markets (never on specific products). Our work is payer-agnostic (and our data, therefore, is strictly firewalled from Aetna)As a medical informaticist and health economist, my role with Healthagen evolved from helping develop and measure the effectiveness of ActiveHealth's clinical decision support and population health management programs to measuring and improving the overall clinical, quality and economic impact of accountable care organizations (ACOs), and in 2016 to program and analytics design at two Healthagen companies--NeoCare (engages parents of babies who started life in neonatal intensive care) and Outcomes (helping pharma and medical device makers understand how various classes of medications and equipment are used, and their effectiveness).

Heads Up, a start-up, was an early developer of software to enable the delivery of care management programs. We developed models based on claims to identify health plan members who were likely to benefit from disease- or case-management programs through improving their adherence to evidence-based clinical guidelines, their ability to work with their clinical care team, and by competence in self-care and managing their health conditions. Heads Up was acquired by ActiveHealth in 2000.
