My work within the Beng organic chemistry research group was focused on the synthesis of large, nitrogen-containing cyclic compounds (N-macrocycles) through a highly selective, economical, and environmentally-friendly approach. By using sustainable materials, the focus can be set on building a library of these N-macrocycles and reducing the reaction’s environmental impact. By increasing cost-effectiveness and the environmentally friendly conditions, this approach is likely to become an asset to not only the synthetic chemist, but to the medicinal community as well.• Analyzed and assembled experimental data in preparation for publication and presentation.• Presented research at Central Washington University’s Symposium for University Research and Creative Expression (SOURCE), 2019.• Awarded CWU Office of Undergraduate Research Grant, 2018-19• Research included work with and data collection using NMR, IR, GC-MS, column chromatography and thin layer chromatography.
