Ivory is currently the Corporate Climate Action Lead at SEASTORIA, where she helps businesses to take climate action. SEASTORIA is a platform dedicated to climate innovation backed by indigenous wisdom that aims to bring nature-positive solutions. Being from Palau, Ivory is especially concerned about the way climate change and tourism are impacting the livelihoods and environments of island nations. Before joining SEASTORIA, Ivory worked as the Climate Solutions Manager at Sustainable Travel International for 3 years. She also worked as a consultant for them for 1 year before that to measure the carbon footprint of Palau's entire tourism industry. Besides working with businesses in Palau, she has measured the carbon footprint of at least 100 businesses in travel, shipping, and events worldwide. Her passion for climate advocacy has led her to be an Article 6 negotiator for Palau, a member of their working group to develop legislation to trade carbon credits, and currently, the Pacific Climate Warrior representative for Palau, where she raises awareness of climate change issues in island nations.Ivory owns a consulting firm called EmeralDreams based in Palau, where she has worked with the Office of Climate Change, the Palau Visitors Authority, the Palau Chamber of Commerce, and the Bureau of Tourism. She has also been a co-author on several reports for the UN Ocean Breakthrough, ILO, ADB, and Taiwan ICDF. Ivory got her first experience in the travel industry at a membership organization, the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), in Bangkok. Her role at PATA focused on sustainability and social responsibility, where she worked on impactful projects like environmental audits, a community-based tourism workshop, and a plastics toolkit. She is passionate about promoting sustainable and regenerative tourism and believes that it can create livelihoods for people, preserve local cultures, and help conserve life on our planet.During her undergrad years, Ivory spent time in Rwanda, visiting refugee camps and interviewing youth to raise money to sponsor the education of several hundred students through her university’s global service program. This experience taught her about the complexities of poverty alleviation. Her drive to help others and her love of the environment led her to further her studies and learn about how tourism could be used as a tool for sustainable development. Ivory holds a BA in International Communications from Walla Walla University and a MSc in Tourism, Environment and Development from King's College London.
