- Provides direction to the Sterile Supply Specialist I & II involved in the preparation and processing of medical and surgical supplies, and instruments for distribution to and from Ambulatory Care Services clinics, Ambulatory Care Sterilization unit, operative services, and Central Sterile supply.- Cross-trains nursing, clinic personnel, and OR staff in the care and function of all instrumentation, including specialty, endoscopy, microscopic, and power.- Assists with the development and implementation of procedures and methods of inventory and access control for $1.8 Million inventory of endoscopes and specialty equipment. - Assists with the establishment and independently operates the quality assurance program: Reduced infection rate by 20% - Utilizes tracking software and electronic medical record to document and prioritize timely processing and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment - Analyzes and suggests measures for resolving problem situations through root cause analysis and creating workflows: Increased productivity by 33%

- Decontaminates, inspects and assembles, high level disinfects, and/or sterilizes endoscopes and surgical instruments - Reviews and files daily disinfection and sterilization records - Documents and maintains daily/weekly/monthly logs to ensure that the department remains in compliance with the organization’s policies, standard guidelines from governing bodies, and laws/regulations- Performs computerized scanning, documentation, and tracking of equipment and instruments in SPM- Orders supplies and maintains PAR levels - Communicates within the department and with the customer to resolve concerns in a timely fashion- Writes and updates department policies, procedures, and workflows- Maintains certifications by completing in-services as required- Updates MSDS sheets - Partners with Infection Control and Environmental Health and Safety in conducting internal audits of various departments throughout the region- Trains new employees and ensures that on-going competencies are met consistently and documented annually- Identifies and resolves process improvement and cost saving areas: 10% cost savings for GI dept by reducing waste, reduced risk by improving endoscope transport process ENT dept via updating the workflow- Performs quality assurance measures on equipment and ATP testing on endoscopes

- Retrieve case carts with soiled instruments after surgical procedures - Manually and mechanically clean and decontaminate instruments- Inspect instruments for cleanliness and test for functionality- Assemble, label, and wrap or package trays/sets- Sterilize trays/sets and devices according to the manufacturer's instructions - Prepare case carts for surgery and redistribute throughout the main OR and other floors/departments
