Key achievements:- led the development of a special supplement on chronic disease and implementation science in a peer-reviewed journal, and the coordination with all contributing authors, project collaborators, funding agency staff, and journal staff- led a qualitative assessment of diagnostic practices and coding processes of traumatic brain injury at emergency departments in urban and rural areas in the US- implemented a mixed methods evaluation of NNPHI activities in Year 1 of a multi-year collaborative to increase knowledge of best practices in infection prevention and control (IPC)- identified strategies and recommendations for improving programs aimed at increasing IPC knowledge among public health practitioners- conducted interviews and performed qualitative data analysis to strengthen identification and treatment of latent tuberculosis infection among immigrants and other high-risk populations in the US- designed a mixed methods assessment on the training needs of the public health workforce in the infection prevention and control field- provided technical assistance on the piloting of an indigenous evaluation toolkit in collaboration with the Seven Directions Indigenous Public Health Institute- supported research activities of the Stopping Elderly Accidents, Deaths, and Injuries (STEADI) initiative

- taught HED 383: Principles of Epidemiology to advanced level undergraduate students during Spring and Fall 2021, and Spring 2022- taught HED 576: Measurement and Evaluation in Health Promotion to health education graduate students during Fall 2020

Key Achievements:- coordinated the implementation of research and evaluation activities of the THRIVE Project (The Home visiting Referral quality Improvement initiatiVE), a statewide quality improvement initiative to increase referrals from healthcare providers to home visiting services in New Mexico- co-led the development of the statewide strategic plan to prevent firearm-related injuries and deaths in New Mexico - conducted a mixed-methods needs assessment of domestic violence agencies in New Mexico- conducted a mixed-methods needs assessment of children's advocacy centers and multidisciplinary teams in New Mexico- part of a team that is implementing a multi-component approach to increase referrals to home visiting programs from providers in New Mexico since 2017- evaluator for the National Dance Institute NM's Advanced Training Programs- evaluator for the Methamphetamine and Suicide Prevention Initiative of the Indian Health Services in the Crownpoint area- conducted original research on engaging males in the primary prevention of sexual violence

- taught PH 310: Population Health Research Methods, an advanced level undergraduate course with UNM College of Population Health, for Spring 2021

- assisted in teaching PH 502: Epidemiological Methods I, which was an overview of the methods of epidemiological research

- member of the New Mexico Youth Risk and Resiliency Survey (NM YRRS) team for 2017; analyzing 2015 YRRS data for a report on sexual health and dating violence among NM teens- involved in research identifying the barriers and facilitators experienced by healthcare providers when referring pregnant women and families with small children to home visiting programs

- participated in community-engaged qualitative research related to increasing provider referrals to home visiting programs in Bernalillo County, NM

- practicum trainee in epidemiology- assisted in the Sexual Violence Prevention research project

- managed the volunteer placement program for the medical and dental clinics in US army, navy and air force bases in Okinawa, Japan- in charge of the Red Cross dental assistant training program in Okinawa, Japan

- volunteered at an on-base medical clinic in the largest US air base in the Pacific, working 15 to 20 volunteer hours every month

I was involved in the following research projects:- “Unwanted Pregnancies Study in the Poorest Women in Metro Manila”, commissioned by the Consuelo Foundation (http://www.consuelo.org)- “Managing Environmental Risks for Sustainable Food and Health Security in Watershed Planning in Lake Laguna Region Phase 1: Development and Pilot-testing of Data Tools”, in partnership with the Japan Ministry of Education

Commissioned by the World Health Organization – Western Pacific Regional Office, the Institute of Clinical Epidemiology spearheaded a “Review of Cluster Activities in Health Emergency Response to Tropical Storm Ketsana (“Ondoy”), Typhoon Parma (“Pepeng”), and Typhoon Mirinae (“Santi”)" of which I was a research associate.

Being a medical officer in a campus infirmary meant serving the health needs of students, faculty members, researchers, and their dependents. The infirmary was also a secondary hospital and also offered diagnostic and treatment services to the community members of Los Banos, Laguna.

I was one of the research assistants in the Cord-Clamping Substudy of the study on the "Essential Newborn Care" Guidelines by WHO.
