Led, managed, and contributed to several collaborative data science and software projects including, but not limited to, development of a science-based fish health index to be operationally deployed in our SaaS product, a comprehensive bio-financial model for assessing impact-risk-return in the aquaculture industry, an insurance model driven by oceanographic forecasts and statistical modeling, and an internal Global Aquaculture Dataset.Encouraged collaborative working and mutual support of continued growth within the data science team. Co-developed and managed 2 data science summer engagements with undergraduate and graduate students.

Designed and implemented a data science framework for scaling oceanographic and statistical analysis for 20+ farm site locations across British Columbia. Worked closely with our software engineering, data science, and ocean science teams to deliver Scoot’s first contract with one of the top 15 salmon aquaculture producers. Updated methodology and data sources for scoring health of Food Provision from Fisheries & Mariculture*, and developed new science communication tools. Based at the National Center for Ecological Analysis & Synthesis. Part-time during the school year, transitioned to full-time after graduating.*Calculation of Global OHI Food Provision Fisheries and Mariculture sub goal scores: Combines available global fishery stock assessments, data-limited approaches for estimating B/Bmsy, and global catch data. Compiles data on global production by country, sustainability assessments for species-regions, and total potential for growing marine foods.

Implemented SeaSketch as a decision-making support tool in the annual spatial planning process of the California Groundfish Collective (CGC) and streamlined workflow for the risk pool information sharing process. Coordinated with The Nature Conservancy, SeaSketch Lab, and fishery managers to meet project goals. Based at the Marine Science Institute, UCSB and National Center for Ecological Analysis & Synthesis. Full-time through the summer, transitioned to part-time support through the rest of the school year.

Processed & tidied dataset submissions to the Arctic Data Center in accordance with National Science Foundation standards, coordinated with principal researchers to finalize their data publication, and followed Ecological Metadata Language (EML) syntax guidelines to facilitate reproducibility. Based at the National Center for Ecological Analysis & Synthesis.

Designed and taught after school science classes for Grade 2-8 students in underrepresented communities in San Diego County for the EIS spring program. Led hands-on classes in Conservation, Physical Science, Chemistry, and other STEM subjects. Assisted Director of Education with EIS programming needs: identified, secured, and coordinated guest speakers and local field trip opportunities for a 80-student cohort. Finalized topics included Food Sustainability, Engineering, Molecular Biology, Computer Science, Physics, and Aquaculture. In addition to Mission Trails Regional Park, I secured field trips to the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve and the Living Coast Discovery Center for the EIS summer program.

Worked on the Ocean Resources Enhancement & Hatchery Project (OREHP) from August to November 2015 and the following field season in June 2016: collected fish samples from several sites along San Diego's coastline and bays to measure feasibility of enhancing the white seabass fisheries. Responsibilities included setting & retrieving nets, processing gill nets at the dock, identifying local fish species, taking measurements, and maintaining gear.

Conducted California recreational angler surveys throughout San Diego County at boat launch ramps, piers, jetties, party boats, and beach banks: measured and identified marine fish catch, estimated fishing effort, and informed the public of Fish and Wildlife regulations. Contributed to CA Recreational Fisheries Survey (CRFS) newsletters and independently trained new recruits on-site.
