About Ishraki Kazi
Ishraki merges artistic and scientific inquiry to navigate philosophical explorations. As a transdisciplinary researcher, Ishraki uses embodied performances, conceptual experiments, and community engagement to create spaces and circumstances for discussing questions of ontology, ethics, and epistemology. Put in simpler terms, Ishraki uses a mix of art and science to question the foundational constructs upon which we (as individuals, cultures, or ecosystems) build our understandings of ourselves in relation with “others”. Fundamentally challenging categorical definitions and searching for experiences that ground relations in a non-categorical field of existence. Recent projects like "Poetics of Inquiry: How to Stay with Trouble," "Bacterial Consent," and "Sensory Augmentation" exemplify an art-science collaborative approach, navigating the curious space between the known and the unknown. Ishraki holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The Cooper Union, and a Master of Science in Art, Culture, and Technology from MIT. Recent works were shown at, the MIT Museum, Distillery Gallery, Shanghai Live Arts Festival. NADA Curated, and UAAD x New Art City. Aside from exhibitions, Ishraki has also given talks at various institutions such as MIT, SUSTech, China Academy of Art and is currently based between Shanghai, New York, and Boston.
