This model is based on the NEA Community Schools model and aims to grow our public schools into community hubs with shared decision making that is driven by collaborative processes between administration, educators, school staff, students, parents & families, and the neighborhood community.Lead organizer for the Columbus Education Justice Coalition, a broad-based coalition of parents, educators, students, and community members dedicated to the work of ensuring an equitable and quality public education for all students in Columbus.

Supporting social emotional learning skills and positive behavioral intervention supports for the early childhood education departments that includes 60+ pre-kindergarten and special needs preschool classrooms. Conducting and leading functional behavior assessments, supporting the writing of behavior intervention plans and supporting inclusive strategies for neuro-diverse students.

I design and implement instruction for preschool aged children with various developmental disabilities. Instruction is based upon each student's IEP goals, along with the state/common core standards. Areas of instruction include academic readiness, gross and fine motor skills, speech and language/communication, social skills and adaptive behavior.I have worked with a diverse group of students over the years. For three years, I worked exclusively with students on the autism spectrum.

As an itinerant teacher, I provide intervention services for students aged 3-5 within the Columbus City Schools district. I work with students who are enrolled in preschool classes, day cares or head starts and also within their homes, who receive special education services through an IEP. Currently, I am based out of the FCBDD Center and within the area surrounding Port Columbus Airport.

I currently mentor, consult and coach educators who are in their first year of employment with the school district, as well as serve as a mentor for the Resident Educator program. I am trained and certified as both an OTES (Ohio Teacher Evaluation System) evaluator and a mentor for the state of Ohio Resident Educator program.Currently, I am working with primary to secondary special education teachers in the areas of specific learning disabilities, orthopedic handicaps and children with severe emotional/behavioral challenges. I also work with and mentor several occupational, physical and speech therapists.As a consultant teacher and mentor, I assist with planning and leading professional development opportunities weekly for our Resident Educators. These sessions include, but are not limited to, the implementation and evaluation of summative, formal and informal student assessments, lesson planning, lesson delivery and classroom management skills.
