I am currently the Business Compliance Lead Officer at Chelmsford City Council. I lead a team of Environmental Health Officers who under take inspections and enforcement work in food safety and health and safety. I have been in my previous role as Team Leader in Public Health responsible for the creation of the both team plans and ensuring that projects are in place to meet the SLA requirements. I manage the team members and monitor their performance. My work in smoke free has included ensuring that illegal shisha bars are identified, visited and action taken to ensure that they comply with the Health Act. I have worked with Public Health to ensure that projects link up with coming trends, such as smoke free children parks, smoke free homes and smoke free cars. I am therefore required to meet with stakeholders and identifying where there are common grounds that we can work together.Food for health is similar to that of the Healthier Catering Commitment (HCC) (CIEH) healthy eating award. I work closely with the Public Health Dietitan and I lead on the ensuring that the SLA is delivered. This includes attending meetings with other council departments, external companies, community groups, and individual business operators. I visit and work with FBOs to make small changes to their food on the menu, I offer food safety advice and undertake food safety inspections when needed. In the past couple of years we have concentrated on targeted areas, for instance I have worked with FBOs in Chrisp Market to ensure that they are firstly broadly compliant with food safety and that they meet the requirements of the FFH Scheme. I have undertaken food hygiene inspections. I have done prosecutions where there was a serious failure in food hygiene such as formal closures, continued offences and noncompliance with improvement notices. I have also provided evidence in court. I was also responsible for devising the food sampling plan and ensuring it was undertaken.
