A professional community builder, educator, and fundraiser, Izzy Waxman brings life and innovation to any projects she touches. Her energy, empathy and intuition give her the opportunity to fulfill her mission: Tikkun that olam! She currently 'repairs the world' as Executive Director of Mazon Canada, the Jewish Response to Hunger. MAZON Canada is a grassroots community foundation that feeds Canadians of all ages, ethnicities, faiths and abilities on behalf of the Jewish community by supporting front-line food projects across the country, including food banks, school meal programs, drop-ins, community gardens, and more.Under Izzy's Executive Directorship, and alongside Grant Goodman, Associate Director, Mazon has hit many milestones: revenue nearly doubled in a two year period, the annual granting budget has more than tripled, and the number of food aid partners has also doubled - with growth sustained through the difficult years of lockdowns, and in the face of increasing severity of the hunger crisis across Canada.Mazon provides grants for food and equipment to a network of over 250 food aid partner programs in 92 towns and cities across Canada, all while educating and advocating toward an end to hunger. They are proud to have provided 360,000 meals through this partner network in 2022 through granting $1M for the first time ever.In her free time, she loves to study Kabbalah and Jewish mysticism, learn to cook ancestral recipes, and is currently learning to cartwheel.
