Design and implement power trading algorithms for SmartBidder, a product which maximizes returns for energy storage and renewable+storage projects in wholesale electricity markets.

Develop decision models that power optimal decision-making in the United States power markets. Multiple models are run daily or hourly in a production environment. Model outputs are exposed directly to clients and have demonstrated added value to a two-gigawatt portfolio of renewable energy and storage projects.

Design, implement and optimize ISO bidding strategies in SmartBidder, a live decision-making software for utility-scale renewable and renewable-plus-storage projects. Bidding strategies include day-ahead and real-time virtual trading, day-ahead renewable hedging and the regulation-versus-energy tradeoff. Implement extendable modules for model training, bidding strategy optimization, and data acquisition. Design and manage internal company-wide ISO data tools. Support client-facing consulting on battery project development and financing. Daily Python use.

Analyze campus waste data to efficiently restructure Stanford's waste corral layout and improve recycling performance. This project is part of a larger plan to reduct Stanford's trash waste by 90% by 2030.

Developed a modular and extendable web-scraping tool in Python for gathering power market data from ISOs. Aggregated Ascend’s backlog of historical market data into an accessible infrastructure. Developed modular tool for ISO market price predictions using Python machine learning tools, to be used in an upcoming product (release date TBD).

In addition, I have seen two specific roles in my two quarters as a TA for this course. In Fall 2017, I managed our website on Canvas, Stanford's online portal for accessing important content from their courses. I also drafted sample homework and exam problems. This course surveys key aspects of each energy resource, including significance and potential conversion processes and technologies, drivers and barriers, policy and regulatory environment, and social, economic, and environmental impacts.

Estimate future costs of hydrogen production and distribution from renewables using Department of Energy cost models and infrastructure modeling software developed at NREL. Incorporated a new technology for hydrogen production from renewable electricity into the base case hydrogen infrastructure model used by NREL. Deliverables included a research paper and poster.
