Over the course of a 30+ year law enforcement career I held the positions of Sergeant, Captain in field operations, Training Coordinator, and Hiring Manager. I have been instrumental in many projects and responsible for the development of training plans for up to 2,000+ employee department. I have held leadership positions at the national level with Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance, also serving on a number of committees in the area of training. I am currently certified as an active shooter response instructor through the U.S. Bureau of Justice ALEERT program. I have also worked in the conservation law enforcement field at the county level, and spent 16 years as an online adjunct criminal justice instructor for a local community college, that included course instruction and development in the areas of Constitutional law, Constitutional criminal procedure, forensics and patrol tactics. I was recognized by the Iowa Association of Chiefs of Police, as officer of the year in 2001.I am a graduate of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Leadership in Police Organizations program, Northwestern University Center for Public Safety's law enforcement personnel management program, among other law enforcement personnel management and human resources related courses of instruction.
