During my time on the Basic Needs Special Projects Division at HCC, I created a comprehensive budget allowing the platform to be fully funded by Title III grant money and community donations. Through effective leadership and strategic partnerships, I was able to make lasting positive changes for the campus community, while creating an accessible, sustainable, and modular menstrual equity solution for higher education institutions.As Care About M.E. Menstrual Equity Committee Chair, I successfully led a team of 20+ dedicated volunteers in collaborating community needs and developing a cost-free platform. To ensure inclusivity and meet user needs, multiple comprehensive campus-wide surveys were conducted, resulting in a diverse range of offered products. Additionally, a benefits analyses of competitor products was conducted, ultimately determining that a grassroots approach was the most cost-effective for our campus.Within the first three months of implementation, over 400 free products were distributed to campus community members. Best of all, we forged a valuable partnership with Diva Cup to broaden the sustainability of the platform and provide an increased diversity of free products. The Python Django inventory software I created for this platform is open source, modular, and freely available for any campus looking to create their own similar platform. Features include multiple permissions gates, tracking infinite campus locations for product placement, inventory management, and ticket creation for restocking.
