Academic Support• Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to engage students and promote success in the classroom environment.• Work with students to enhance coping skills, organization, goal setting, and study skills.• Provide resources to teachers to promote classroom success.• Primary contact for IEP support and Safe School evaluations.• Collaborate with special education coordinator to promote student success.Social/Emotional Student Support• Prepare and provide classroom lessons for social/emotional well-being (i.e. mindfulness, coping skills, social skills, goal setting)• Facilitate social/emotional student groups (i.e. impulse control, anger management, conflict resolution, social skills)• Provide individual counseling sessions in response to teacher/administrator/parent referrals.• Collaborate with external providers (i.e. counselors, social workers, case managers, doctors, speech therapists, PT, OT)• Provide support to parents/caregivers and make referrals for additional counseling and resources.• Contact emergency services for student mental health crises.Career Development• Teach 7th and 8th grade careers class.• Provide career lessons for elementary and middle school classes.• Develop contacts with community professionals, linking them with students interested in career fields.• Collaborate with high school counselor to aid in student transition to high school, standardized testing, and career development opportunities.
