As the Vice President of Programming at Communities In Schools of Charlotte Mecklenburg, Inc (CIS of Charlotte), I oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based programs that support the academic, social, and emotional needs of over 6,000 students in 51 schools. With more than 13 years of work experience in higher education and student affairs, I have developed strong competencies in higher education leadership, student development, student affairs, and curriculum and instruction. I hold a PhD (ABD) in Curriculum and Instruction from Virginia Tech, and a MA in Higher Education Student Affairs Leadership from Western Michigan University. Prior to joining CIS of Charlotte, I served as the Executive Director of TRiO Programs at Forsyth Technical Community College, and the Program Director of TRiO Educational Talent Search at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where I managed multiple federal grants and led teams of professionals and mentors to provide college access and success services to low-income and first-generation students. My mission is to empower students from diverse and underserved backgrounds to achieve their educational and career goals, and to create a more equitable and inclusive learning environment for all. I am passionate about collaborating with stakeholders, partners, and colleagues to develop and deliver innovative and impactful programs that address the challenges and opportunities facing our students and communities.
