I used to believe that we create our own destiny but it’s our experiences that actually help us hone it. I’m currently practicing as a UK registered nurse in a home that primarily caters for service users with nursing needs and dementia from as young as 60 to 100+ years old - 103 being the oldest which is amazing! I previously worked in one of the leading providers of transformation and outsourcing services (BPO) to Global 1000 companies in multiple industries such as US healthcare, in which I spent the whole of my tenure with, starting as a clinical claims specialist for 2 years and moving up as an assistant manager for operations for 5 years. Having been blessed with an NCLEX scholarship through which I got my US nursing license was a bonus too! Prior to being acclimated to a working environment where I would usually sit on a desk fiddling the buttons on the computer keyboard, talking to clients on the phone with my imperfect but beyond better and more confident spoken English ability, and overseeing people if they are doing the same on their designated stations, I was this very shy, laid back lady who spent the next 2.5 years working in a secondary hospital based in my home city after graduating and becoming a fully pledged nurse. I was sent to battle by initially fighting for the life and recovery of the adult population for the first few months and then sent to assisting in supporting well being, thriving and recovery of the newborn.I also did a bit of freelancing in between my hospital and BPO experience as a bank / agency customer care representative for one of the biggest healthcare insurance companies in the Philippines. My work experience for 12 years (and counting) has not been perfect, and something I did not plan for after graduating, but fulfilling in a way that it made me become more diverse, dynamic and skill full as what my current manager told me. I’ve carried on to be a risk taker in my endeavours and an advocate of innovation and excellence to further support efficiency and productivity while maintaining quality in opportunities that would allow me.Also, when I’m not working or when I feel lazy to go out, I would find myself in the kitchen usually having a great time or sometimes channeling negative energy from a hard day’s work, by crushing 100 cloves of garlic at a time.
