About Mackenzie Mitchell
I’m an Atlanta native and a graduate of Georgia State University’s Master's of Interdisciplinary Studies in Urban Studies. Prior to completing my graduate studies at Georgia State, I completed my undergraduate studies at Agnes Scott in Public Health, with a focus on health economics and urban health. I have an interest in affordable housing policy and economic development as well as research on gentrification and its consequences for public health. I'm passionate about the City of Atlanta and an advocate for its potential to be a city of economic equality, diversity, and accessibility. I am particularly interested in organizations serving economically disadvantaged communities and neighborhoods as well as higher education and research that benefits this sector. I have also worked with local- and state-level organizations focusing on affordable housing, community development, and sustainability. Upon completion of my Master’s program, I accepted a position with Fulton County’s Department of Economic Development.
