I am currently helping to raise awareness of the fantastic work that Stewart Robertson does at the Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre at Balloch near Loch Lomond. He has over 32 birds of prey ranging from Owls both large and small, falcons, kestrels, hawks, buzzards, etc to Golden Eagles. These birds are incredibly well looked after, but we are looking to make people more aware that he is there. We have just relocated to purpose built accomodation within Loch Lomond Shores at Balloch. I am currently a voluntary Trustee of the Callander Youth Project Trust, which is a youth organisation serving 400sq miles of Stirling covering the South Central Highlands. We deliver a wide range of activities for young people including youth clubs and holiday programmes. We also run a dedicated support project for pupils and former pupils of McLaren High School and employability support for school leavers looking for employment.Over the past two to three years we have set up two Social Enterprises following the purchase of the former Bridgend House Hotel in Callander. These are a five star youth hostel with 26 beds and the associated Bridgend Cafe. We have recently been successful at the Scotland Youthlink awards in winning best Social Enterprise last year and a first and second place in the youth worker of the year awards in 2016.Website is www.callanderyouthproject.co.uk

Everett Properties Ltd is a Company that holds commercial properties within a development on the former Bilston Glen Industrial site in Loanhead, near Edinburgh. These properties are rented out to Private Clients on 5 year leases.We have a range of properties from 1000 - 5000 sq ft. We also have commercial properties in the Pentland Industrial Estate that benefit from off street parking, unlike a lot of the other properties in the estate.

I was responsible voluntarily for visiting possible cases of hardship in the East of Scotland where Building and Civil Engineering operatives were looking for financial help following accident, ill health and even where the bread winner in the family had died. A report was then filled in to determine whether financial help would be granted. I found this to be very rewarding and thoroughly enjoyed my involvement in trying to help people out.

We were responsible for giving away monies raised by the Lighthouse Club to Construction workers and their families who fall on hard times - whether it be illness, hardship, injury on site, or indeed death. We have given away over £12 million since formation and annually give away between £600,000 - £700,000.00. We also pay for seriously injured and disabled people and their carers to go on respite care holidays. All Civil Engineering and Building people should be members of this extremely worthwhile Charity. Membership is only £20.00 per year. Help can be given by way of a "lump sum" cheque to help in the short term, but more than often assistance is paid monthly and is normally reviewed on an annual bassis. There is nothing that can describe the feeling when the initial cheque is handed over to the recpient of our help. It makes the job all the more worthwhile!I have recently stepped down as Chairman of the Benevolent Fund committee, but am continuing to help the Scotland East Branch on the Welfare side. We were a small to medium sized Civil Engineering and Building Contractor who carried out all types of work, mainly for private Clients. I retired in May 2012. We built the industrial units that are currently owned by Everett Properties Ltd.
