Class actions, business litigation and employment litigation

After commencing his solo practice in 2015, Mr. Moore has continued to handle complex litigation and whistleblower lawsuits. He typically represents employees and consumers whose rights have been violated, generally on a contingency basis. In one whistleblower ("qui tam") action brought under California's False Claims Act, Mr. Moore's client, a charter school teacher, disclosed alleged fraud on the State by an online charter school and the out-of-state company that allegedly controlled it. Ultimately, Mr. Moore's client and the State obtained a seven-figure settlement, with the client receiving a substantial whistleblower award. Mr. Moore served as "Of Counsel" to Newhouse Law Group at times, handling business litigation, employment litigation, and real estate litigation cases, mostly during expat stints living abroad.

Mr. Moore was a founding partner at Moore & Leviant LLP, a boutique class action law firm in the Los Angeles metro area, where he handled class action cases, whistleblower matters and ERISA breach of fiduciary cases. Some of the class actions against banks and financial institutions that commenced while Mr. Moore was at Spiro Moore were ultimately successfully resolved during his Moore & Leviant tenure.

Mr. Moore also has been appointed class counsel in connection with the approval of class action settlements in cases including, e.g., Shersher v. Microsoft Corp., LA Superior Court Case No. BC 340630 (nationwide consumer class settlement; final approval granted in December, 2009) and Chakhalyan v. City of Los Angeles, LA Superior Court Case No. BC443367 (case involving DWP solid resource fee overcharges by City of Los Angeles; final approval granted June, 2012).
