With over20 years of experience in higher education, I am a passionate and principled leader who strives to empower students and faculty in their academic and professional pursuits. As the Dean of the College of Public Affairs and Administration and Professor of Political Science at the University of Illinois – Springfield, I managed a budget of $3.8M and collaborated with faculty members across a variety of disciplines at the forefront of UIS’ public affairs mission.I have a strong background in academic writing, student engagement, and curriculum and assessment development, as well as extensive knowledge of American political institutions, congressional elections, and political behavior. I have published in prestigious journals, such as the AJPS, and served as a frequent commentator on American elections. I have also held leadership positions at the University of Southern Mississippi and Millikin University, where I led the revitalization of the political science department and supervised faculty and staff from across several disciplines. I hold a BA from LSU, a MA from Alabama, and a MA and PHD from Iowa in Political Science.
