I coordinate several components of the province’s response to gender-based violence. The services I have overseen while in this role address NB’s response to intimate partner violence, sexual violence, sex trafficking, among other forms of violence. I train front-line service providers on legal remedies to prevent domestic homicide, how to conduct evidenced-based risk assessments, and how to understand the coercive cyclical nature of GBV.

In this role, I supported students, alumni, and staff to help them meet their further education goals through one-on-one meetings and workshop facilitation. I worked with individuals through the planning, application, and interview process for applications to a variety of graduate and professional programs. Many of my clients accessed support to navigate institutional policies that negatively and disproportionately impacted them as people with lived experiences of marginalization and trauma.

I advised and supported graduate students and postdocs seeking to build meaningful careers in a variety of domains, from academia to industry. In private sessions and workshops, I provided clients with context support regarding work search strategies, writing strong application documents, and preparing for interviews. As a fellow academic and researcher, I used a person-centered approach in my work with graduate students and postdocs and created safe environments to explore career paths inside and outside of academia.

I provided guidance for undergraduate and Master’s students in brief advising sessions, helping them to write effective résumés, persuasive cover letters, and prepare for job interviews. I also represented the Centre for Career Action at various campus events, informing students about career resources on campus.

I facilitated a series of workshops for Master's and PhD students promoting skill awareness and articulation. I guided students through a reflective process aiming to identify key skills developed in graduate school and highlight the transferability of those skills to a wide variety careers.

I successfully manage a variety of research projects through initial development, research, and final output stages. Some of these projects are highly collaborative and require me to cultivate relationships with stakeholders and researchers with a variety of disciplinary backgrounds. My core research project focuses on suggesting concrete improvements to graduate training that will better prepare PhDs for careers beyond the tenure-track.

I coordinated and conducted research on a multi-phase collaborative project with an interdisciplinary team of researchers. As a project coordinator, I managed tasks and timelines for multiple phases of the project, and took point on communications with other collaborators and with research participants. As a researcher, collected data by developing surveys and conducting semi-structured interviews. I also coded interview data, shaped project design, and contributed to project outputs (e.g., articles, blog posts, presentations).

In this role with the Centre for Career Action, I co-organized a conference to promote non-linear career paths for PhDs and help support graduate students interested in alternative academic careers. I also managed social media and communications for graduate students and postdocs, sharing content and resources to aid in career preparation and development.

I worked as a Teaching Assistant for a variety of courses and topics from entrepreneurship to ethics, and provided essential support to instructors and students across campus. Along with administrative and organizational tasks, I evaluated written assignments, reports, and oral presentations. I provided continuous and constructive feedback for students to help them improve their writing and presentation skills, and guide them in achieving concrete learning outcomes.In addition to these key responsibilities, in my last year as a Teaching Assistant I designed and facilitated a workshop on group dynamics and conflict resolution to help students navigate the complexities of collaborative work. The goal of this workshop was to provide support, resources, and guidance to students so they could develop skills to excel with group work.

Through distance learning, I coordinated the delivery of a variety of courses. I managed all communications with students, provided additional resources, assessed written assignments, and provided constructive feedback. I also mentored junior graduate students to guide them through their first experiences as teaching assistants and help them develop skills to provide accurate assessments and meaningful feedback.

I prepared and facilitated interactive workshops to promote active student learning and engagement. My role was to openly discuss complex material and attend to the outstanding questions and concerns of students to offer extra support to those seeking clarification regarding course content.

I provided one-on-one educational support for students in an effort to supplement their in-class learning. I worked with individuals to break down complex concepts and information in a way that was both accessible and engaging.
