In a nutshell, I am a scientist with a huge passion for engineering biology and the endless possibilities of new (bio)technologies. I'm driven to challenge the status quo and to find a smarter solution for the problems I'm working on.During my studies in Biology (B.Sc.) and Plant Biotechnology (M.Sc.), I have worked on several diverse projects in my research groups. My most noteworthy extracurricular activities include a self-organized research project on tissue culture and running with my team in the 2016 iGEM synbio competition.Transitioning from pure lab work to also engaging in science policy and biosafety was one of the most transformative decisions of my life. It opened my eyes to the intricacies of our daily routine as scientists and the possible implications of our work.Core focuses of interest: Metabolic Engineering, Synthetic Biology, Genome Editing, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biosafety and Biosecurity, Science Communication and Policy, and Emerging Technologies.When I’m not on the job, I love mountainbiking, perfecting my carrot cake recipe, and boardgaming with my friends.Let me know if I can help with any of your projects.
