Process control. I started my career at the bottom, I worked my way up to the top. Along with P.E.'s in chemical and electrical engineering, I have deep, extensive experience in almost every single aspect of the knowledge domain I can think of. Distributed Control System and Programmable Logic Controller systems project management including design, installation, programming, integration, start-up, maintenance, advanced process control, HMI, historians, LIMS, intranets, automated data analysis, field data integration, compliance monitoring and integration of disparate database systems into a functional whole. In the 80's doing APC meant being as much of a computer systems engineer as it meant being a process control engineer. These computer skill sets come in so handy when you get into the realm of doing scientific research on supercomputers in the areas of computational chemistry and molecular dynamics with research grade (read bleeding edge) software. In my opinion, process control is the true apex of chemical engineering, when considered from the context of practicing production engineers.However, research and development, i.e. the creation and perfecting of new chemical reaction process technology inventions also offers the potential to radically alter the operating economics of established chemical engineering processes that can yield benefits exceeding $1B per year. Supercomputers, and the application of their computational capabilities to probe and understand existing processes as well as investigating the feasibility of new ones, at a fraction of the costs associated with traditional experimental investigations are poised to bring radical changes to traditional chemical processes and current economics.

    I'm open to a paid position, but only if it 1) Interests me. 2) I can substantively contribute to the advancement of.The Social Security Administration has me recorded as being in full retirement. On August 1st, 2023, all tax limitations on my earnings (from employment) will expire.Currently I'm working on a book, "Digging the number e out of the ground with nothing but a shovel". It's purpose is to help students of any age develop a more meaningful and usable understanding of mathematics in general while progressing towards improved abilities to apply them in scientific and engineering endeavors.I'm considering developing a series of videos to address how poorly (in my opinion) thermodynamics is introduced to new students of the subject. Thermodynamics is simply the study of how energy and matter interact. Why is it introduced in such an inept and needlessly complicated way? My intention is to address the shortcomings that are obvious to me to help others add this critically valuable topic to their professional tool belts. I'm also looking for access to supercomputer time to push forward the capabilities and applications of my novel dissertation subjects, interactions between bio-molecules and electric fields and my invention of computational x-rays. My dissertation introduced results that represented 40ns simulations of cell membrane systems in equilibrium with the applied electric flux.One aspiration is to generate perhaps 10 frame movies that reveal how non-electrically stressed membranes interact and rearrange in response to the application of electric flux stress. Another is to develop methods to better visualize the resultant electric fields during these transitions. Initially, this would be implemented by creating add-on capabilities for VMD.A similar aspiration is to develop another add-on for VMD to interactively visualize data from the other novel result of my dissertation work, computational x-rays.
