Worked collaboratively and independently with a team of seven within the Security Operations (SecOPS) department monitoring and analyzing traffic from all Sentara Healthcare locations. I also played a customer service role in problem management by assisting employees and clients in troubleshooting their technical problems when trying to use the company's secure network services via phone or email. My level of customer support could be considered equivalent to Tier 1 and Tier 2 support. Complex problem-solving skills were needed to find the root of the problem through problem identification, understanding how the systems interacted, making the proper decision, and communicating the technical solutions to sometimes non-technical customers.Incidents handled within our ticketing system included but were not limited to investigating lost assets, phishing threats, encryption, infected machines, PKI authentication failures, suspicious website certifications, security risks and vulnerabilities of systems, firewall exceptions, rogue devices, and unauthorized access. Referencing and comprehending procedures to address such investigations was required.Provided procedures and training by writing procedures for new workflows such as daily checklists, onboard training, and on-call duties. Newer interns were expected to read such workflows and then demonstrate their new duties while senior employees and interns offered hands-on training and mentorship as they progressed. I had limited system admin responsibilities such as user account management to manage user permissions and access controls to ensure data security within our department.Completed Daily Checklists such as checking Two Factor Authentication (2FA),automated systems, SIEM alerts, reviewing Whitelisting requests for internal websites, monitoring the Virtual Security Operations Center (VSOC), researching threat intelligence, and participating in information sharing via H-ISAC.
