The Humane Society of Decatur & Macon County is a well rooted not-for-profit that has been serving its community for almost a century. My role with the no-kill rescue organization is to oversee daily activities including the medical needs of the animals in our care, recruiting, training and scheduling volunteers to cover all shifts, fundraising, web admin, social media development and marketing. All applications, interviews, intake and adoptions are also my direct responsibility. My number one priority is the safety, health and enrichment of the animals we protect. My second focus is to build our marketing and networking outreach to attract excellent, caring and responsible families to adopt our furry tenants so that we may open our doors to others in need. I am relatively new to the HSDMC family. In my first six months with the organization we have doubled our online traffic, and adoptions are up nearly 80% compared to the previous five year average. We pride ourselves on the high standards we set for adopters and the quality of life we provide for the animals in our care. Most of our animals are cases that others will not or can not help. The services we provide are desperately needed in the community.
