ShaMac is a wholly-owned investment business focused on early-stage, growth-orientated investments backing strong management teams pursuing attractive business opportunities. ShaMac has had four exits to date via two-IPOs and two strategic acquisitions. Current focus private investments include: Osprey Informatics (Calgary); Mobile Direct (Los Angeles); StrongWatch Corp (Tucson); Purposely Inc (Phoenix); and CAF I (Calgary).

CanGas operates an innovative compressed natural gas (CNG) and raw natural gas (RNG) transportation and processing business. Based in Calgary, with operations throughout the western Canadian sedimentary and Permian basins, the Company's industry-leading team designs and executes solutions to generate savings through the displacement of less economic and environmentally-unfriendly fuels as well as to monetize gas that would otherwise be "flared". These services enhance well NPVs, reserve bookings as well as environmental compliance for its clients.Selected by the board of its parent company, CanElson Drilling (TSX: CDI) to turn CanGas into an independent company. Strategically re-positioning and re-tooling the CanGas subsidiary we re-focused the business model, enhanced client engagement, and implemented new technologies which more than doubled revenues and increased EBITDA four-fold. In early 2014 CanElson decided to retain, rather than divest, the re-positioned CanGas to further differentiate its core drilling services.

A private investor group, originally founded within ASU’s Engineering School, ATi evolved into an independent group engaged in sourcing and diligencing technology-focused investments throughout the Southwest.During my tenure on the Board ATi successfully transitioned its leadership and business model, became a standalone entity outside of ASU, and significantly increased its membership, sponsor relations and local market presence.

Founded in 2008, CanElson is engaged in the manufacture and operation of highly-efficient, purpose-built drilling rigs in Canada’s Western Sedimentary Basin, West Texas’ Permian Basin, Noth Dakots’s Bakken and Spearfish Basins and the Ebano-Panuco-Cacalilao field in Mexico.Since joining the Board, CanElson grew from 7 to over 40 rigs funded by industry leading operating results, successful access to low-cost debt capital and strategic equity offerings. I Chaired the board of the US subsidiary and served as a member of the Audit Committee for the public company.

Orvana is a gold-copper producer with organic growth opportunities. Orvana owns and operates the El Valle-Boinás/Carlés gold-copper mine in Northern Spain and the Don Mario mine in eastern Bolivia, and is developing the Copperwood copper project in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.Originating and Chairing the Corporate Development Committee we developed the infrastructure, attracted the leadership and executed a successful hostile take-over that allowed the Company to transition from a single, rapidly depleting gold mine to a multi-mine gold and copper producer. I also served on the Audit and Compensation Committees as well as a number of executive recruiting initiatives.

This transition, coupled with the global economic dislocation, ultimately led to fundamental resets of its management and strategy leading to the rationalization of its core product offerings, out-sourcing of manufacturing, implementation of a new financial/ERP system and the introduction of an activist shareholder, all while maintaining its leadership in key product and technology niches.

Built the top-ranked Canadian cross-border debt capital markets franchise. This involved managing multi-disciplinary, international teams of professionals as well as C-Level or senior governmental clients during mission-critical IPO and/or strategic financings. My teams were responsible for successfully lead-managing over $60B via public, private and structured financings. This said, my most satisfying legacies are the direct reports I've mentored who continue to enjoy very successful careers throughout the financial services industry.

I took over the firm's Canadian government finance franchise as it emerged from a company threatening crisis. Through successive mergers with Travelers and Citibank we built a dominant debt underwriting franchise and grew the P&L tenfold.

Starting out as a post-MBA Corporate Finance Associate I earned increasing responsibility. Most notably, I proposed to senior management of the newly merged Wood Gundy and CIBC the creation of a Securitization JV. Overcoming significant regulatory, rating agency, accounting and internal challenges our team built the most successful new business units producing one of the highest ROIs for the commercial and investment banks.
