Studied large supramolecular complexes of various geometric shapes to further develop a new high resolution ion mobility spectrometry mass spectrometry instrument, to see if it was capable of detecting accurate cross-sections of molecules with various geometries and cavities. • Extensive use, and upkeep of homebuilt mass spectrometry instrument• Performed sample preparations varying solvent, concentration, and pH.• Produced standard operating procedures for the nESI-HRIMS-MS instrument.• Developed strong problem solving and team working skills.Studied the folding of Islet Amyloid Polypeptide aggregates. Used the nESI-HRIMS-MS instrument to identify structure of various IAPP aggregates, and the mechanism to which it aggregates. With the purpose to identify how IAPP aggregates form, and how they are toxic to beta-cells in type II diabetes.• Received a Summer undergraduate research fellowship (SURF)
