While implementing the peer support policy, I coordinated and assisted with over 200 critical incident stress debriefings in two weeks following loss of life incidents involving off-duty and on-duty officers. I presented first responder mental health training and resources to department members on key topics including Signs and symptoms of PTSD, Self-care, emotional crisis response, and benefits to conducting a CISD, and also provided emotional and mental health support, resources and references.

The 3 battalions of the Leawood Fire Department provide 24-hour emergency support to the community. I created and implemented the first peer support policy in department history to provide guidance on how to best assist team members during difficult circumstances. By reviewing and instructing medical classes while serving on county education team, I confirmed that both staff and community members had the appropriate information on fire safety and prevention methods. I responded to 500 emergency medical calls to perform lifesaving procedures and other emergency medical services, maintaining calm demeanor during crisis situations. I evaluated conditions at emergency sites to execute most effective methods for saving life and propertyI am honored to have earned 8+ recognitions and commendations from department and local hospitals for life saving measures.
