Technology is precisely as good as the benefit it brings to us and to our planet.If I had to summarise my professional take-aways in life (so far), it could the following:In fuel cell system and software development, I learned to take a BROAD LOOK at the entire development chain, from the hydrogen supply of a single cell up to the complete operation design of a full system, to make it work the way it should.While working in on-board diagnosis (OBD) of automotive combustion engines, I realised the importance of taking a DEEP LOOK, e.g. into engine control unit (ECU) software functions and their vast range of possible cross-correlations in order to find the error.Physics has taught me the beauty of the SCIENTIFIC METHOD, patience and persistence in analytical problem solving, and modesty towards nature.The little metrology guy on my shoulder always reminds me to take a CRITICAL VIEW at the quality of data, its associated uncertainty and the traceability to a standard.And finally, maybe the most important lesson for me, I learned by my family and children what really matters and that HUMOUR is a real superpower!
