Over the years at Futurice I worked in various roles in various client domains. The most recent years I focused in healthcare, as that is the industry that drives me the most. While design being my passion, I also got to wear many other hats (loved it). I did account development work, sales work, worked as a consultant/advisor, hands-on design, led design and implementation work. Never forgetting the Tammerforce happenings and community stuff (or FutuCamp at Tampere) I had a pleasure to be creating with the magnificent team.

We inject life into digital solutions by designing innovative mobile apps and online software – all with a focus on user experience and interaction. As a Senior Service & UX Designer at Futurice I get to work on versatile projects, both in the terms of industry and job responsibilities. I've been working with consumer apps and services, B2B business tools and municipal services etc. Starting from the very first idea of a service to solving the business problem and fulfilling the user needs & dreams. CEO, Founding partner, Member of the board. Suuntaamo provided services for user-centered design, such as user experience evaluation, UX & service design, usability engineering and test user recruitment. Suuntaamo was a spin-off from the New Factory innovation ecosystem where I was working as a project manager.As a CEO I was involved in all activities of the company. Ranging from management and team leading, proposal writing and building new client relationships to hands-on design work, such as expert analysis, service concepting and training (e.g. teaching user-centered design of health technology at the University of Tampere).

At New Factory I worked with Suuntaamo which was at that time a publicly funded project (European Regional Development Fund) and one of New Factory's engine rooms. My main work responsibility was to develop Suuntaamo's concept; to create cost efficient user testing and other agile UCD methods that would serve both start-ups and established companies. I was responsible e.g. of the project budgeting, new sales, reporting (EU/EAKR) and local steering group meetings. The project was also part of ENoLL, European Network of Living Labs and I was a member of the executive board (the council).With the team, I also led and did hands-on design work: carried out Suuntaamo’s client projects (selling, planning, execution); user research, usability testing, business modelling for start-ups etc.

New Factory (part of Hermia Ltd) was an open innovation platform which provided students, self-employed entrepreneurs, researchers and developers an environment where they could process ideas into prototypes, pilot projects, products and services, new business and new jobs.At first I started as a project coordinator at Hermia, and after 4 months I took the main responsibility of the Suuntana Suuntaamo project.

OpenLight Factory was a brand new start-up in the lighting industry and they needed help with their digital service idea.I worked as a service and UX designer and helped to create a new concept and the MVP. Work included user research, interviews, contextual inquiries, feature specification, interaction design, UX & UI design, prototyping. MVP design for “Spots”, an online service for designers in the lighting industry.

Research assistant in the SUXES project (User Experience Evaluation for Supporting International Competitiveness). My main responsibility was to carry out a global online remote UX case study for Suunto. I also assisted in several other research projects: e.g. usability tests (laboratory and real context), maintenance of the webpages of the unit. Three scientific publications.

SYL – National Union of University Students in Finland. Supervision of the interests of university students on a national level. I worked as a board member for a year. My responsibility was social politics and more precisely student health care and well-being and student housing.The position provided an excellent overview to the political field and decision making in Finland. I was collaborating with numerous stakeholders, including political associations, healthcare service providers (e.g. Kela, YTHS), associations and foundations interested in wellbeing (Nyyti ry), universities and their executives, ministries of education and environment.

Teaching Assistant in courses: Introduction to Usability, Introduction to User Interface Design, Cross-cultural Design, Task Analysis and Design. Research Assistant in usability tests (laboratory and real context), maintenance of the www-pages of the unit.

TTYY – Student Union of Tampere University of Technology. Supervision of the interests of university students on a local level. I worked as a board member for a year. My responsibility was social politics, student health care and well-being. Advocacy work within municipal politics in Tampere region.In this work I learned to listen to the needs of others, to seek solutions and how to find the way through many levels of decision making.

Teaching Assistant in course Introduction to Usability.

Trainee in Visual Arts. I worked as a teaching assistant in Jyväskylän Lyseon lukio (high school). In this work my main responsibility was to held art classes and instruct students with their artwork. Besides that, I designed and made costumes for a local theater production. I also assisted in the accounting of the visual arts class.
