As Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Vertex Analytics, I handle the overall vision of the company by monitoring the industry, networking with other industry experts, and analyzing competitive activities. I actively seek market needs and propose, evaluate, and work with engineering for new product releases and updates. I’ve always believed that if you start something, it should be memorable. After the 2008 financial crisis, I witnessed the massive rise in the disruptive use of technology that became ‘fintech’. Regulatory bodies called for more laws on data privacy and for increased oversight in financial markets, and I knew this would translate into a burgeoning need for regulatory technology, or ‘regtech’, so I leveraged my knowledge of technology and futures to co-found Vertex. Vertex captures and stores every message an exchange sends out, giving users a unique and unprecedented view into the market: the data set is capable of offering billions of market instances that can display real-time events by the second. Vertex’s V3 provides users with a new paradigm for making better decisions in the futures trading world by uncovering all events that are taking place, and allows for forensic auditing when questions arise.I thrive in an analytic, numbers-driven environment but also truly enjoy connecting and interacting with people, and I am truly committed to my colleagues’ fulfillment at work. Finding solutions to challenges gives me true joy, and at work, our open-door policy is both literal and figurative; anyone can come to me at any time to discuss what’s on their minds and in their hearts. Outside of work, I treasure time with my wonderful wife, who is as much of an entrepreneur as I am, and our young children. I’ve rarely met a sport I haven’t tried and liked, I presently exercise my unadulterated love of numbers by studying the complex and ever-evolving world of cryptocurrencies, and I’m a proud graduate of the acclaimed FBI Chicago Citizens Academy.
