I'm really enjoying digging myself deeper into functional programming paradigms, mostly centered around the typelevel ecosystem: cats, shapeless, fs2, http4s, doobie, etc. I've contributed to Event Sourced services, built tagless final libraries, and done custom typeclass derivations.I enjoy teaching, I currently teach an introductory scala course to peers at Sparkcognition, and I was the chair of Tutoring and Mentoring for a student org in college!I do almost all my work in Vim, and have put a lot of effort into improving and customizing my environment. Check out my vimrc and zshrc on github!I studied Computer Science and Mathematics with a concentration on Probability, Statistics, and Data Science with a minor in Linguistics at the University of Texas at Austin.

Software EngineerCapital One Nov 2021 - PresentI am a backend Scala engineer and local sbt expert. I primarily help my team build and maintain two Scala ZIO services: the first is an external facing service that transforms external commands into the internal service format and orchestrates messages to various internal services; the second is a streaming service for processing asynchronous internal commands.* Migrated architecture from Scala 2 and ZIO 1 to Scala 3 and ZIO 2.* Wrote an sbt plugin that integrates a custom OpenAPI generator to generate case classes.* Co-architected and implemented an async queue service built on Kafka and ZIO Streams.* Co-built APIs with OpenAPI, tapir and ZIO Http, tested with Godog and generative ZIO tests.* Designed the prototype and process for making backwards-incompatible changes to APIs.* Aided transitioning from NewRelic to OpenTelemetry. -
