As a part of regional marketing team to drive marketing campaign with Europe markets.

I am acting as an overall project manager to plan, drive and monitor all the project activities. Given the academic environment has no PM structure, I am shaping the project into a proper way step-by-step. The major stakeholders include dentists from King’s College, AI experts from UoS, medical IT experts from NHS and some advisors from general public and medical experts from the industry.

• As an overall project lead to deliver from scratch the mobile application of First Robo Advisory Service of Wealth among Hong Kong digital banks which costed over £2.8million.• Without a PM guideline from the bank, I have tailor-made a lean but proper hybrid PM practice for this very young bank. As such, the project has properly gone through requirement collection, mobile app design, development and testing with auditor and regulator’s endorsements.• To conquer in this start-up like working environment, I have ensured everyone, C-Levels and working level, always clear on the next steps, the risk that we were facing and align on the progress and opportunity of the whole project along the way.• Challenges that I have overcome include defining a workable plan while there is no prior example to follow, severe resource shortage, progressive business logics finetuning, unstructured organization, unreliable vendors, limited UAT period, obtain regulator’s approval, etc.

• As a project lead from Hong Kong to adopt Group solution and launch local generated projects.On the wealth management side, I have launched the product WealthPro, a pilot product from group, which allow retail customers to collateralize investment assets (i.e. bonds, funds, deposit, SN, etc) for a loan. • It’s a flagship project of the year and I have picked up in the middle of development. Risks and issues have been identified and cleared with the steering committee. I have also coached the product and testing teams for the sophisticated testing. The project launched on time and within scope.On the insurance side, I have established the project team, project plan and timeline to onboard a new General Insurance provider Allianz. I have ensured it run properly, before I move on, for the priority products, i.e. fire & travel insurance.

• Overseeing and delivering all wealth and insurance related projects with my 3 subordinates from requirement collection till post implementation support. Major projects are as follow:• Wealth Product Risk Disclosure Process Re-engineering: This project saved 2000 hours per year or 30% of time of each risk disclosure process to the bank with significant improvement on sales quality. We have analyzed the process flow, identified the automation opportunities and implemented accordingly.• Financial Health Check: This is a light and fancy tool to uncover the customers’ protection need in few seconds. Partnered with respective global business owner to derive this project from idea stage to prototype then development, training to key branches and implementation. It’s been rolled to 200 relationship managers who serve high net worth customer.

• To drive various initiatives on wealth and insurance operation to facilitate the implementation of global strategy.Custodian Model: I have led an international multidisciplinary team (10+), i.e. business, operation & IT to lay down a global custodian strategy and operating model for HSBC retail wealth management. The operating model includes process flows of settlement, reconciliation and corporate action for equities, bonds and structured products. It’s been successfully piloted in Singapore, which is the 2nd largest market of the bank in Asia.Wealth Operation Review for Australia: In order to separate the operation work from the business team, I have conducted a review on all operation work that was handling by Australia wealth business. In the review, I have mapped out the process flows, task dependencies and associated resources.Location Strategy: Established wealth operation centre in Guangzhou, China by relocating the work from Shanghai & Kuala Lumpur. The centre grew up to 7x staff by end of 2015 to meet the operation need.

• This role aimed to migrate various fund accounting records from a legacy platform to a new one.• I have initiated the project to migrate 2 sets of Pension (MPF) portfolio (10 & 114 funds respectively) by reviewing the business requirement, defined the end-to-end procedures of the transition, liaised with various stakeholders to agree on the plan, progress and testing arrangement.

• I was the work stream lead of End User Computing(EUC) which is a part of a 4-year fund accounting and valuation platform migration.• My team worked as a gatekeeper of all EUC requests. By coaching 3 business analysts, we analyzed the requests, drafted functional requirements, agreed prioritization with stakeholders, arranged delivery with IT and arranged testing with end users.• One of the major projects was financial billing of funds which aid finance operation to collect all fee income data. More than 100 man-days on development.

• One of the key project managers to roll out an origination system to various Asia countries. The origination system handles applications of various products, i.e. Credit Card, Personal Loan, Car Loan and SME Loan.• I have rolled the system to Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Bank of Ekonomi and Malaysia. For each country, I have worked with the local business owner to plan and execute according to the HSBC PM standard. To Vietnam: This was the pilot site of the project which been delivered on time without any delay despite the complexity of the system and countless defects during UAT. To Malaysia: I have picked up the project from other PM who failed to deliver. In order to put the project back on track and recover the relationships with the local business, I have on-site Malaysia to work alongside with local team. At the end, the comment from Malaysia team was “We have developed intimate relationships with him and we can’t afford to lost him.”
