As the full-time Audiovisual Technician for the Canyons School District in Salt Lake City, UT, I ensure that technology for our 35,000 students across 50 schools, Administrative buildings, and Transportation facilities works to facilitate a safe learning environment where our students can succeed. Our goal is to allow students to thrive in their educational careers.The Audiovisual team is over classroom technology, bells & intercom, gymnasiums, auditoriums, football & baseball audio systems, A/V infrastructure & technology, capital improvement projects, digital signage displays & marquees, and manages Zonar and GPS systems on our fleet of 185 buses.Significant projects include bridging legacy analog A/V systems to modern digital networked A/V (A/V over IP) systems, primarily utilizing Extron to align with today's standards.Day-to-day activities include consulting with the end user, a schools IT Field Tech, principles, and our A/V Team Lead to create solutions to improve existing technology and assist our field techs with specialized technologies. We work together alongside other departments to develop solutions under tight timelines.Additionally, we facilitate live-streaming events such as board meetings, graduations, Teacher of The Year ceremonies, and many more and provide live audio support during facility rentals and special events.
