My greatest strengths are my focus and my attention to detail. Once I decide to learn or do something, I pursue it with single-minded determination. When I learn something new, I tend to dive right in and solve problems I encounter on the spot. My learning style is in stark contrast with the conventional educational method of topical learning. I just need to understand enough to be able to ask the right questions and then I'm usually self-sufficient enough to find the answers I need.As a strong advocate for consistency, cleanliness and conventions, I always ensure that my work is well-structured and readable. I love enforcing and adhering to standard practices, be it for writing code, unit tests, documentation or DevOps procedures. Some people say I'm anal and I take that as a compliment. Being meticulous is a mark of pride for me as I strive for perfection. There are enough big-picture people out there and not enough of us detail-oriented folk.I follow rules and instructions very well and, while that may seem robotic, it also makes me reliable. My creative strength lies in customizing and combining ideas to solve the problem at hand; adding value rather than creating something from scratch. That's what makes me an effective coder - I don't reinvent the wheel. When facing a problem, chances are someone out there has also faced it and solved it. All I have to do is find it and adapt it to the specifics of the issue at hand. The most important skill a programmer can have is knowing how to Google effectively.
