Project Description: During a Melbourne lockdown, a Swinburne internship works with the sustainable material called Mycelium to create products alongside, Seed & Sprout, an environmentally conscious company based in Byron Bay.Responsibilities▪ Contributed to online team meetings about manufacture, sourcing, process, ideas, client needs and product circularity▪ Explored multiple solutions in different sub-teams to pitch client needs via prototyping, case studies, CAD, renders, sketch exploration, resourcefulness, and presentations▪ Collaborated with many intern members weekly on Slack to make day/ week plans to maximise workflow and efficiency▪ Documented the design process through prototypes, trials, case studies and upcycled items to create media for marketing and exposure purposes▪ Adapted to the circumstances of a pandemic lockdown to maintain a mission statement to upcycle and educate alongside the alternative material Mycelium through product design▪ Consulted the client with product design suggestions, ideas and possibilities while working with the client’s feedback and brief onlineAchievements▪ Executed the mission statement of upcycling by seizing free marketplace items to manufacture mycelium products at no extra cost of material price▪ Received a trip to Byron Bay for intern excellence through professionalism, outcomes and applied PDE skills▪ Engineered a highly rated Mycelium product through positive client feedback and practical design work
