Initially I was trained as a basic Infantry soldier, which required discipline, the ability to carry out orders and work within a team. As my military service continued I excelled in the art of shooting and fitness activities. Having these qualities I was subsequently selected to take part in the sniper-training program to become a Swiss Sniper. The program required personal traits such as patience, discipline, respect, accuracy, mathematical knowledge, survival skills and endurance. Anyone who did not meet these requirements was sent back to the Infantry during the 4-week intensive course. Specific courses undertaken included:- Driver training- Bush survival and camouflage - Long distance shooting accuracy up to 1.2kms- Algebraic calculations required for shooting ballistics- Plotting shooting position sketches- Various fitness coursesI graduated as a Tireur d’elite (Sniper) on 11 October 2012. I then exercised the skills I had learnt in various military instalments around Switzerland until I concluded my military service.
