Through the DukeEngage program, I worked with community organizations at the Duke Marine Lab in Beaufort, NC on various projects concerning water quality, coastline protection, sea turtle conservation, and ecosystem education. One of my main projects were creating a website for the North Carolina Coastal Reserve & National Estuarine Research Reserve which informed coastal property owners on the options they have to protect their shoreline from erosion in a environmentally friendly way. The other project, which I collaborated with Coastal Carolina Riverwatch on, was creating a storm drain mural for the town of Beaufort to spread awareness about how substances that enter storm drains can harm the community's water quality.

I worked as a tutor on the light team for the Duke Ignite program developing and implementing circuitry curriculum for middle-schoolers in the City of Durham. During the Fall semester I developed curriculum to teach kids about the basics of circuits, engineering prototyping and how to build their own flashlight. In the Spring I worked with middle-schoolers to help them make their own circuits and eventually flashlights that fulfilled a need of theirs with the goal of introducing them to the field of engineering.

I worked with Dr. Sarah Parsons on a research project seeking to determine the effect of urbanization on insect populations. I did lab work sorting and IDing insects and field work setting up and taking down traps as well as work in R software to determine results. The team created and presented a poster at the Association of Southeastern Biologists annual 2023 conference as well as the Duke Research Fair.

I operated the carousel, boat, and train rides and did odd jobs around the park campus. I was able to help families from the local as well as other communities experience joy at one of my favorite parks in my hometown. I interacted and helped all different kinds of people including kids, families, couples, and the elderly to ensure they were happy and safe while visiting.

I worked as a camp counselor at the Jewish Community Center in Raleigh, NC taking care of 1st and 2nd graders. The work involved leading art, sports, spirit, and music activities. I watched over their safety, as well as working 1-on-1 with many children when they were sad or scared.
