Jack Beach is retired. Prior to retiring, he founded a consultancy that focused on the assessment and development of global executives/leaders. Before this, he spent over fourteen years as a Sr. Leadership Development Consultant for IBM. In this role, he was not only the personal consultant to a number of IBM’s most senior executives but was responsible for overseeing the leadership development programs for IBM’s senior executives. In addition, he led the team that created IBM’s Leadership Framework, articulated the IBM Competencies, and created the tools to assess leaders’ capabilities and effectiveness. During his tenure, IBM repeatedly ranked as the world’s #1 company for leadership development. Prior to IBM, Jack spent 29.5 in the U.S. Army. His career started as a draftee. He was trained as a combat medic and served with the 101st Airborne Division in the Republic of Vietnam. Later commissioned, he rose to the rank of Colonel and spent 17.5 years as a Professor and Director of the Psychology Programs in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership at the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY. Prior to arriving at West Point, he taught at the U.S. Army’s Academy of Health Sciences Fort Sam Houston, TX, where he was a key member of the team who created a course for training the military’s paraprofessional behavioral sciences counselors. In addition to the United States Military Academy, Jack has spoken at and taught leadership courses at universities across the globe including Cornell University and Notre Dame in the US and the Graduate School of Management at St. Petersburg University in Russia, and Xiamen University and Shandong Institute of Business and Technology both of which are in China. As an adjunct professor, Jack has also taught various psychology courses at several universities.Jack has consulted extensively throughout the world. His clients have included CEOs as well as Chiefs of Staff of foreign services such as Sri Lanka and Republic of Maldives; Deans of foreign Military Academies (Sri Lanka, Macedonia, and Bulgaria); the Los Angeles Police Department; Los Angeles Sherriff’s Department; and various senior leaders of the Army and Department of Defense. From 1993-1998, he consulted with the Menninger Foundation, Topeka, Kansas, and the Senior Panel on Sexual Harassment for the Department of Defense. Jack is the author of Leadership in My Rearview Mirror: Reflections from Vietnam, West Point, and IBM. He is a co-author of From Battlefield to Boardroom: Corporate Leadership Using the West Point Model.
