I was able to operate alongside race, data and performance engineers to optimise tyre performance and maximise durability. I created engineering reports and calculators to allow the engineers to make split-second informed decisions and frequently became the final line on tyre calls. As the season developed I was consulted on car setup and race strategy which further ingrained myself into each team’s engineering core. In July I began working in the Moto2 & Moto3 World Championships to monitor the control tyres used in these categories. I was able to oversee tyres from the whole category to understand how motorcycle setup and rider behaviour influence tyre performance. Show less

The Porsche Sport Driving School in Australia is operated by McElrea Racing and in 2014 the road car tuning workshop 'MR Tuning' was established.Initially my employment focused on reducing the workload of the existing engineers and designing special tools for the mechanics. I was able to reduce workload by taking responsibility for documentation such as lifing spreadsheets, car preparation lists, mechanic race weekend booklets, failure lists and post event analysis. My data analysis skills were quickly recognised and I begun working with drivers in late 2013 during test days. I used Solidworks CAD software to design tools for the mechanics that increased job accuracy and saved money. For 2014 I begun working as Data Engineer with Grant Sparks in GT3 Cup Challenge and Renee Gracie in Carrera Cup (Bathurst & Surfers). Both drivers improved significantly during the season and personally commended my data analysis style. I continued to design tools and equipment for the race mechanics but also began designing components for a variety of cars in the MR Tuning workshop. Projects included brake caliper adaptors, adjustable lower control arms, adjustable anti-roll bars, numerous rear wing supports, steering rack relocation and even a coffee table. In 2015 I worked in the Australian GT championship as Race Engineer for Michael Hovey and his Ginetta G55 GT3 car. The car was fast over a single lap (Phillip Island, Eastern Creek) but suffered reliability problems over race distance. I improved reliability by re-designing the broken components with increased rigidity instead of simply purchasing replacement parts from Ginetta UK.In 2016 I remained in the Australian GT championship but with Simon Ellingham and an Audi R8 LMS Ultra. The car was well established and proved reliable which allowed me to focus on tuning car setup and optimising race strategy. Show less
