Based in the lab of Prof. Claudia Kemper combining computational and wet-lab approaches to understand T cell activation and contraction. The first project developed a computational pipeline for pathway analysis in scRNA-seq data, and used this to define mechanisms of T cell activation (Bibby JA., et al. Cell Rep 2022). The second project is utilizing high-throughput approaches and generating multi-omic data to define mechanistic regulators of cytokine production in T cells.

Part of an MRes/PhD programme funded by the Biomedical Research Centre. MRes work consisted of transcriptomic analysis of effector T cells and Tregs from the blood and joint of rheumatoid arthritis patients, optimizing Treg culture techniques to improve in vivo longevity, and understanding mechanisms of B cell IL-10 production. PhD was based within the lab of Prof. Andrew Cope working on the metabolic regulation of IL-10 production in B cells. The work was based around regulators of IL-10 production in human B cells and how this pathway is dysregulated in a rare set of patients with inflammatory disease (Bibby, JA. et al Nat Comm 2020).

The Gambia

The project was based within a phase IV clinical trial, which was part of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. The research focussed on assessing the efficacy of needle free vaccination devices and whether suboptimal doses of vaccination can induce sufficient immune responses if given intradermally (Bibby, JA. et al. Clin. Infect. Dis. 2017).
