Reporting to the Vice-President, my primary responsibility focuses on driving the day-to-day performance and continual development of the analytical chemistry section, spread across several UK sites. Each analytical unit across this section engages in delivering internal and/or external analytical projects of widely varying nature from internal discovery stage R&D to pre-clinical characterization to QC for API manufacture. I am responsible for managing and maintaining a high level of efficiency and effectiveness within these teams by streamlining processes and providing consultant level analytical support. I am responsible for developing the expertise of staff and thus the greater capability of the UK analytical section, managing scientists from fresh graduate to principal level. I am responsible for maintenance and development of internal GMP QMS and maximizing effective compliance in all relevant laboratories.

Reporting to the group CSO and managing a small team of analytical scientists, I enjoyed two major responsibilities at IPOS, primary amongst which was the management and delivery of challenging analytical projects for external chemical industries largely focussing on preclinical APIs and discovery stage pharma and agrochemical entities. I also managed and IPC and process development projects featuring broad application of techniques and strategies in synthetic chemistry. My further responsibilities were of a research capacity, in which I designed, developed and delivered chromatography-mass spectrometry projects within the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, and Pharmacy at the University of Huddersfield. My analytical research interests largely feature mass spectrometry, particularly collision cell & electrospray induced rearrangement reactions. My organic chemistry interests include behavioural peculiarities of biologically active organic molecules under extreme conditions.
