Process Engineer
Portsmouth, England, United Kingdom
Joining BioPure mid-Covid pandemic, I navigated the company through sourcing challenges, technical hurdles, and extended product lead times exceeding 1 year. During my tenure, BioPure underwent rapid expansion, increasing from 6 injection moulding machines to 32, alongside a substantial increase in headcount and relocation to a bespoke 11,000m² facility, approximately 8 times larger than the previous premise. As one of two members in the newly formed engineering department, I tackled daily challenges, prioritizing urgent issues while establishing essential processes in a dynamic environment. My responsibilities spanned a broad spectrum, encompassing initial design review, proposal documentation, capex management, project oversight, trial participation, and process instruction development. With a primary focus on enhancing production output, improving quality, and ensuring customer satisfaction, I spearheaded initiatives to introduce new equipment, refine processes, and optimize tooling efficiency. Additionally, I played a pivotal role in sourcing new equipment, implementing innovative processes, and establishing a metrology department to uphold stringent quality standards.Complementing my role, I undertook training with RJG to bolster my proficiency in supporting tooling FAT's and expanding my knowledge of tooling and processes. Leveraging this expertise, I successfully justified and operated Moldex3D simulation software, enabling proactive assessment of tooling function and early identification of potential issues, thereby mitigating risks and optimizing project outcomes.Throughout my tenure, I led the justification, management, and implementation of numerous projects, processes, and technologies, resulting in substantial cost savings for the company. I take pride in my integral contribution to BioPure's scale-up and the establishment of a world-class facility, leaving a lasting and meaningful impact on the business.
