Main Building, Whitehall

Whilst completing the DESG graduate scheme, I spent 6 months working within the CAP CMAP team within Main Building in Whitehall. During this placement, I assisted with the development of a genesis gate business case for a multi-billion pound Future Combat Air System. My role was to produce cost estimates and complete data analysis to generate the required evidence. This involved managing large numbers of stakeholders and working closely with Analysts from Dstl.

My first placement on the DESG graduate scheme was within CAAS, completing the 42 week Cost Engineering and Forecasting training packages. This taught me all the skills necessary to become a cost estimator within the MoD's cost analysis department.

Filton, Bristol

Whilst completing the DESG graduate scheme, I spent 3 months on secondment in the JSF LiftSystem Cost Reduction team within Rolls-Royce. My duties included the development and execution of cost reduction strategies on the Rolls-Royce elements of the JSF.

Poole

Whilst completing the DESG graduate scheme, I spent 5 months on secondment in the Mechanical Engineering Cell within the Engineering Office at the RNLI based in Poole. During this placement I was tasked with identifying the root cause of an intermittently failing automatic bilge pump, and subsequently the development of a solution.
