A member of the Global Tax team responsible for delivering compliance within Tax and Stats Service line for UK. Reporting in to the two Statutory Compliance Regional Managers, I played a key role in actively monitoring Service Delivery of the remote service provider, KPMG, working with a team of process improvement experts to drive continuous improvement and troubleshooting issues faced by the Service Provider while keeping regional lead abreast of potential challenges and proposed recommendations. The role is provided me with experience of the Pharmaceutical industry, working with a shared service environment outsourced to a third-party service provider and I gained experience in both accounting and auditing as well as experiencing different working cultures. Throughout the year I gained insights into every part of GSK’s business, from R&D and manufacturing of brands across the Pharmaceutical, Consumer and ViiV businesses to the distribution, sales and corporates services required to maintain a company of GSK’s scale.I also acquired the position of site ambassador throughout my time at GSK House. This involved planning and organising social events for fellow placement students at GSK House and other GSK sites such as a Christmas ball, boat party, site tours and personal and professional development events.
