I designed and implemented a successful Business Unit Report and introduced a new risk-based approach to auditing that has been well-received by colleagues. I regularly form ideas for collaborative working between departments in pursuit of common goals. In recognition of my holistic knowledge and valuable contributions, I was selected to contribute to a strategy steering group, and to contribute to the formation of a corporate environment strategy.

After informally covering this position for four months, I was seconded to the newly established Quality of Decision Making Team responsible for making critically important and legally binding decisions on behalf of the Chief Executive. Reporting directly to the Head of Quality of Decision Making, I ensured BAU while the new team was formed, and was directly involved with the recruitment of an administrative officer. I managed the entire process through which formal reviews of closure decisions made by the NMC’s Screening and Case Examiner functions can be formally requested through 'Power to Review' (or Rule 7A) applications. The caseload includes complex and politically sensitive cases that are regularly the subject of public and media attention. After assessing each application, I progressed each case through a two-stage process, completing any further investigative work that the Assistant Registrar identified as being necessary to their decision, and keeping all case parties informed of progress.As a senior advocate for quality decision making throughout the entire regulatory mechanism, I coordinated internal audits and worked closely with senior colleagues across the organisation to share learning and drive continuous improvement of decision making processes.

Responsible for the progression of high volumes of cases to adjudication by Fitness to Practice hearings at NMC venues across the UK, I created formal documentation such as notices of hearings to both respondents and witnesses to cases. I communicated directly with all witnesses (including experts and vulnerable or reluctant witnesses) to provide travel and accommodation requirements, which I arranged through a third party platform. The role was crucial to ensuring the smooth running of hearings, and I would often be the final NMC officer to make contact with parties to a case before they entered a hearing venue.Throughout this role I gained significant experience in the use of Case Management and Document Management software, consistently demonstrating excellent attention to detail and an ability to manage high workloads whilst consistently meeting tight deadlines to high standards.

I produced a report of my findings, paying particular attention to gaps that could be identified in the current literature, thereby assisting with the identification of areas of research with realistic prospects of attracting funding.

Working within the Sustainable Transport Team, I actively encouraged modal shift through policy implementation and partnership working with commercial transport providers, public authorities and voluntary organisations. I gained project management experience while leading the countywide roll-out of the Kent Freedom Pass scheme, overseeing the installation of onward travel information displays at High Speed Railway Stations, and similarly installation of roadside infrastructure through a capital Integrated Transport Programme. I co-ordinated the submission of a successful funding bid to the Department for Transport and proposed innovative ideas for improved cross-channel transport integration, which attracted EU funding. Additionally, I was responsible for collecting National Indicator Data, reporting to the Department for Transport on an annual basis.
