For as long as I can remember, I've loved language. Whether it's reveling in the beauty of a perfectly crafted sentence (doesn't matter if it's a novel or an ad), or the challenge of bending language to express my thoughts, I revel in the nuances, cadences, and flat-out music of English. I'm intoxicated by the power of English to persuade, awed by its endless appetite for change, and amazed by its voracious willingness to swallow whole words and phrases from other languages to increase its scope of expression. Language not only reveals meaning; it engenders it. The right words, if arranged in the right order, can tear down walls and build nations. It's also a lot of fun. It's that infatuation that has shaped my professional life: a 17-year career as an English teacher, an award-winning playwright, and a copywriter/editor. I'm meticulous about grammar unless the moment is better served by bending its rules. In addition to constantly trying to hone my writing voice, there are few things more enjoyable to me (well, there are few things) than, as another writer once put it, "Suit the word to the action, the action to the word." As a writer of educational content, I know how to craft engaging and pedagogically meaningful texts and assessments. As a copywriter and editor, I love the range of form and style the jobs require. If you are looking to work with someone a little obsessed - in the best possible way - with expressing what you want to be expressed, I want to get to know you, and I firmly believe you'll want to get to know me.
