Working in the Business Support team within Head Office, my role was in the Capacity team as a Planning Manager. This presented the opportunity to ease the workload for colleagues within stores/DCs/CFCs to deliver excellent standards across all sites, benefitting both colleagues and customers.

I am supplying end to end design and delivery of technology enabled tools, to ensure Tesco have a flexible and adaptable workforce for the future. I am using an agile way of working to continuously develop the product from a proof of concept to meeting all the business’ needs.

When the opportunity to join Hatfield came up, I couldn’t say no. I had always wanted to work in Hatfield Extra and not only that, but I had never worked in a Non Food role before, so I learnt a new skill set as well. I was accountable for the operation of General Merchandise, F&F (Clothing), Health and Beauty, News and Magazines, Stock and Admin.

This opportunity presented itself to me just before Christmas. I had an amazing time in Cheshunt Extra and learnt a lot from there! My main success in this role was the improvement of shrink accrual rate from 1.34% to 0.98%.

I was given an amazing opportunity in Stevenage Extra, which allowed me to take accountability for five different departments in the store. I asked to join this format to develop my leadership skills by working with a larger team. I have successfully completed my degree alongside this role, achieving a first class honours in Retail Management.

This role provided me with a great opportunity to run a store that delivered a fantastic shopping experience for all customers. I delivered key performance indicators and improved customer service through a transformational leadership style.

After being signed off following the Trainee Management Programme I moved store and became a Deputy Manager at Tesco Express in Spalding. I was then the Deputy Manager at Unthank Road Express in Norwich after a six month spell at Hethersett Express. I provided a unique one to one service for each customer that walked in; ensuring they left more than satisfied, whilst selling up and hitting targets consistently. I looked after the Hire department 2 days a week, ensuring it ran smoothly and exceeded expectations. I handled deliveries and replenished stock.
