After graduating from a tiny college in a remote corner of a fly-over state, Jack turned down a marketing job at major accounting and consulting firm in New York and drove as far west as the land would carry him. Beginning with a stint at the once great (now defunct) rock paper, The Rocket, in Seattle, Jack spent the next 3 years as a writer and rock critic, also covering the infamous WTO protests of the late 90s, and penning his first Op/Ed on the merits of the ballot initiative Cannabis Tax Act. Moving back to New York in 2001, Jack continued work as a freelance writer, photographer, and editor. The music-centric phase of his career culminated with the co-editing of Relix Magazine's 2004 Tribute to Phish (with Jesse Jarnow) and the production of a shoestring budget feature length DVD covering Yonder Mountain String Band's first tour of Europe, later released as The Europe Bootlegs (still available from Frog Pad Records). Jack is currently the proprietor of Free Range Wine & Spirits and has served as writer, editor, and consultant in a number of capacities with a variety of businesses and media outlets.
