Excited to be working within the Energy, Water and Resources team within the Cardiff office!

I completed a 2 month summer placement with IWNL (part of BU-UK) and thoroughly enjoyed my time. I was able to gain great insight into the company and the water industry they work within. I worked with the wastewater team and was able to work on a variety of tasks including reviewing technical documents, communicating with clients and completing legal agreements. I developed my engineering skills by learning how to use an in-house GIS system, utilising industry specifications and processing data. I worked along side other teams including looking at NAV operations, water quality and innovations. I was able to help with leak analysis, communications and shadowed experienced colleagues.I also completed POD checks, Capacity checks and completed site visits alongside asset surveyors and developers.Overall, I had a great time learning new skills and knowledge with some great people. It is great to see what innovations are happening within the water and wider utility industry and see how a company operates.I would especially like to thank Alistair Gourlay, Daniel Wiltshire and the rest of the wastewater team at IWNL.

My year in industry for Cardiff University. I had a great year and learnt loads from the awesome people at EDS. I enjoyed developing engineering skills working on a large variety of projects around the marine engineering industry. I undertook confined space inspections for a variety of structures and created reports based on the findings.
